February 5, 2015, the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, a member of the board of trustees of the Foundation for assisting in the provision of medical and social rehabilitation and care for children with severe trauma and its consequences (The Fund of children's Dr. Roshal) Bishop Panteleimon visited Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology.
He visited four children with severe injuries and surgical pathology, translated into treatments at the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology from the Donbass: Vanya Voronov, who on January 2 as a result of an exploding shell in the yard in Shahtersk lost both legs and an arm, seriously injured both eyes; 17 y.o. Sasha Shestak, who as a result of rupture of the shell lost an eye, face bones damaged and destroyed the patella; Vitya Malov with congenital malformations of the brain, Telas Sasha with arthritis of the hip joint. Bishop gave gifts to children from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and wishes a speedy recovery.
Also, Bishop Panteleimon visited children with severe traumatic brain injury treated early and intensive rehabilitation in the neurosurgical department of the institute.
After visiting the children, there was held a working meeting the bishop Panteleimon with the director of the Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, the President of the Foundation for assisting in the provision of medical and social rehabilitation and care for children with severe trauma and its consequences, a professor L.M.Roshal, the chairman of the board of the Fund, the Deputy Director of the Institute Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology S.A.Valiullina, a board member of the Foundation, the head of the department of purulent surgery V.A.Mitish, the chief physician of the Institute A.V.Bryantsev. During the meeting, there were discussed the problems in the organization and provision of medical and rehabilitative care for children with severe injury, especially traumatic brain and spinal cord.It is noted, that the fund was organized by physicians, who directly provide health care for these children and who are familiar with the many challenges in the provision of the care and rehabilitation, and in terms of socialization, legal protection and the like. Particularly, the highlighted things are needed to organize an effective system of rehabilitation such children in Russia, and not send them for treatment and rehabilitation abroad, which in fact is the task of the Fund. At the end of the meeting, there were identified areas of joint work.
During the visit to the clinic , the Bishop was accompanied by Abbess Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy Abbess Elizabeth, who works closely with the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, and her volunteers help care for these severe patients in the institution.
