Tutta Larsen, opening a press conference, highlighted the importance and urgency of the discussed problem. She noted, that the meeting was an occasion for summing up the joint action "October - a month of good” Johnson'®s Baby and the Charitable Fund of assistance for providing medical and social rehabilitation and care for children with severe trauma and its consequences (The Fund of children's doctor Roshal) and It became a part of the a large-scale project "Together for the safety of the children!". The leading noted that she is a curator and the ambassador of the project and she is directly involved in its implementation. For her, it is very important, that the project was able to unite professionals of the highest level. Highlighting the common task - how to protect Russian children from the tragic misfortune, Tutta Larsen presented the participants of the press conference and gave the floor to the first speaker.
The Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, the head of rehabilitation, MD,a professor Svetlana Albertovna Valiullina told about the features of children’s injuries. She noted that, annual, more than 3 million children receive a variety of injuries, more than 6,000 killed, a quarter of them - children with brain injury. Children are more active and curious than adults, they have reduced the sense of danger, so they get an injury more severe than adults. Each age matches its injuries. The most seriously injured children are in a car accident, falling from a height of more than 3 meters (especially young children falling out of windows), extreme sports (parkour, bicycle acrobatics, high-speed roller skate, and so forth.), Riding a hazardous transport (quad bikes, scooters ), downhill on the roofs of trains, tightening the heavy objects and so on. Separately there were allocated injury resulting from fierce school fighting .
Svetlana Albertovna noted, that severe injuries are the leading cause of infant death and disability, and, unfortunately, in recent years there has been a significant increase of both in Moscow and throughout Russia. The leading place among all the serious injuries in childhood occupied cranial and spinal injuries. They cause a high level of morbidity, mortality, hospitalization and disability. Every year, in the world, there are 1.5 million people killed, and 2.4 million disabled of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The speaker noted, that for several years, at the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology was made an epidemiological study of the state of cranial traumatism in Russia and Moscow. It was found that the Russian head injuries are annually received by about 270 thousand children, 100 thousand -are hospitalized, 1,5 thousand -are killed, more than 5,000 - are disabled. Only for the period 2003-2012, in Russia, head injury was received by more than 2.5 million children, more than 18,000 were killed, became disabled more than 50 thousand - huge numbers! In most cases, brain injury is got by healthy children from wealthy families. In Russia, the household way of injury dominates, while in the western countries - an accident. Significant growth of head injuries during this period was observed among girls (more than 30%), as well as among children of the first year of life. Interestingly, the head injury, in 90%, children get in the presence of either adults or their peers.
Svetlana Albertovna highlighted the problems of injury and the organization of medical and rehabilitative care. She noted, that children with severe traumatic brain injury, may be a long time in a reduced state of consciousness, fed through a gastrostomy tube and breathe through a tracheostomy. To discharge home or transfer of such children in any rehabilitation centers is not possible. In the acute period of trauma, compulsory health insurance in Russia covers a limited number of days (30 days of treatment in the intensive care unit and 45 days - in a specialist unit), subsequent hospitalization even for fewer days is available no earlier than 2 months later. More often, this recovery time is not enough.
As a result, the child's serious illness burden on the shoulders of parents, forcing them to look for sponsors to send the child abroad for treatment. In addition, children are in need of modern technical means of rehabilitation, care and household items, but they are very expensive and are not always covered by the funds allocated by the state- disability. Severe children trauma - a complex interdisciplinary problem. One health system can not cope with it. In all countries, the costs of the health facilities, where patients with severe traumatic brain and spinal injuries are treated, partially are taken with a charitable organization. The idea of establishing a fund arose from the steady increase in serious injury, the positive experience of charitable work of foreign colleagues, as well as the many challenges with which the Institute staff, patients and their parents have to face daily. The emergence of multiple funds, which specialize in the direction of children abroad for treatment, solves the problem only partially. In foreign rehabilitation centers, motor rehabilitation is very well organized. However, cognitive rehabilitation with the participation of psychologists, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, educators, speech pathologists in full, as required by the disease, can not be ensured. For its success a specialist in direct contact with the child is needed, which can not be done through interpreters. The main objective of the Foundation - to provide high quality in the Russian medical and rehabilitative care to children suffering from severe injuries, especially that everything you need for it is available. Our children deserve to receive valuable assistance in their homeland. The main program of the Foundation "How to prevent injury," "How to help if the injury occurred" and "How to overcome the disease." All this is possible only together, with uniting efforts of the state, health, society and business.
After her speech, the press conference participants and journalists were shown a film about the Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, which annually receives 3.5 thousand children with cranial and spinal injuries, 180 of them - children with severe neurotrauma and also about the Fund. In the video, the Director of the Institute and the President of the Foundation,a Professor Leonid Roshal pointed to the seriousness of the emerging social problems associated with children - disabled, gotten severe neurotraum:, "The most important thing is to help these children - it is, certainly, an active treatment and rehabilitation. Unfortunately , in Russia the system of rehabilitation of children with those injuries has not been developed. This is a huge burden on the child, a huge burden on the family, is a state of parents who do not know where to go and where to get help”. He added: "We try to solve these problems partially by creating this fund. The fund's goal - to facilitate the condition of children and support their parents, especially those who can not keep a sick child (and most of them), as well as to make sure that, at least, some of these children will be back to normal life. "
After the film, the leading gave the floor to the main pediatric
Traumatologist of Moscow - Razmik Keshishyan. He continued the theme of children’s injuries, highlighting road traffic injuries. Razmik Aramovich noted, that the topic he has been doing for more than 10 years. During this time, thanks to the efforts of the state, a federal programe, purposeful work with educational institutions for the prevention of injuries, we managed to reduce the mortality of children in a car accident. However, compared with 2009, the growth of road accidents among children was 6%, the injured increased by 8%. Total in Russia, in 2013, 21 148 accidents occurred, in which the wounded - 22,407 children and 872 children died.
The most seriously injured children are, first of all, in case of accident (as a passenger or pedestrian), as well as riding on a scooter. He also highlighted serious injury, received by children ofearly childhood as a result of fallout from the windows from high floors. In this injury, we are to blame - adults: parents who do not inspected the child; manufacturers of windows that didn’t think about the system of fixing window screens; physicians and the media that are not covered in the press this issue, etc ..
He said, that the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology developed and implemented an algorithm of rational interaction ambulance and emergency care and hospital organizations in the provision of specialized medical care for children, namely succession at stages of medical evacuation of the injured from the scene to a specialized hospital. In addition, he focused on methodological work for the prevention of road traffic injuries, which was held in conjunction with the Institute of traffic police, health and education, highlighting proposals to toughen penalties for improper carriage of children in public transport (no seat belts, car seats and special devices , including for the transport of infants); to establish tradition in hospitals, when a child is allowed to be taken home only in the case of his parents having of special hand-held devices; to introduce in kindergartens and schools lessons of safe behavior of children on the street.
The speaker highlighted the problem in providing medical care for children with severe injuries. He said, that the institute early rehabilitation begins in reanimation and continues throughout the treatment period. Though, unfortunately, CHI system is limited in time treatment of such children, as well as in the volume of required rehabilitation. "Medico-economic standards are designed so that the child requiring long-term treatment and rehabilitation can not be provided by them in full. Dedicated time is often not sufficient for full recovery a child who has had a serious injury, especially cranio-cerebral and vertebral. We can not treat these patients for a long time, and transferring them to rehabilitation centers and other medical facilities is not possible. Organization of the Charitable Foundation at the Institute is timely and relevant. Of course, the fund partially took over the solution of the above questions, as it is done in foreign clinics. However, a comprehensive approach, combining the efforts of both the state and business is required. "
Tutta Larsen gave the floor to Valery Mitish, noted that he is one of the best specialists in Russia for the treatment of large wounds with damage to soft tissues and bones, complicated by purulent infection. He repeatedly went with a children's doctor Leonid Roshal as part of a mobile team for helping children affected by earthquakes, wars and man-made disasters.
Valery Afanasievich told about the problems in the organization of treatment and rehabilitation of children with extensive wounds to the soft tissue and bone, and are often complicated by purulent infection. These injuries, children usually tend to get in a car accident. In addition, it has allocated a special category of children, the so-called "clingers" receiving such serious injuries as a result of riding, caught behind a moving vehicle, running around on the roofs of trains, as well as the children, crossing into areas with high-voltage wires and equipment. These children also require long-term multi-stage surgical treatment, intensive rehabilitation, expensive consumables and technical means of rehabilitation. CHI can not cover all the expenses necessary for such children, so it is very important part of benefactor-governmental resources in addressing these problems.
Natalya Agre – the President of the expert center "Driving without danger" talked about how social campaigns can be effective in promoting the theme of child safety. She spoke about the already implemented educational and social projects that proved to be very effective and have a significant impact on changing attitudes of parents and children in relation to the issues under consideration. Natalya noted that almost all the children - participants of the charity event Johnson’s baby and the Fund suffered in a traffic accident. Therefore, the "Movement without danger" considered it important to participate in the project "Together for Child Safety" and shared the plans for the development of the topic. In addition, Natalie pointed to the need for business participation in solving urgent problems of child injury.
Tutta Larsen presented Anna Berezina - the director of marketing, "Johnson & Johnson".
Anna Berezina said, that their company is actively involved in charity programs, and that Johnson & Johnson has extensive experience on the subject of child safety around the world. In 1987, Johnson & Johnson became the general sponsor SafeKidsWorldwide - the first national, and, later, international company, which aims to reduce the number of child injuries due to accidents. By 2008, in the United States, Johnson & Johnson has helped to reduce by 45% the number of deaths from unintentional injury among children under the age of 14 years. With a remarkable history of relations with Russian families, the company took an active part in addressing the problem of security of kids. So the idea of a social project in Russia "Together for the safety of the children! Is appeared". Then there was a small movie shows how the action began.
Continuing, Anna said, that the joint action with the Foundation of children’s Dr. Roshal in assistance for children victims in Russia has become one of the first Initiatives project. Under the project there was last action "October-month of good", in 10 regions of the country, in October, the one received broad public response. The purpose of the action - to help children from Russian regions, who have already suffered as a result of road accidents, domestic and street injuries to undergo rehabilitation at the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology. One ruble with each product “Johnson’s baby” will focus on the rehabilitation of child victims. It is important that the assistance will be provided to child victims in Russia. Specialists of the Institute clearly understand what help our heroes need, they know the history of these children and believe in success. In total, the shares will be assisted 12 children who live in different parts of the country. Their parents are closely monitoring the progress of the action and are grateful to everyone who supported the project. Anna pointed out that our joint campaign - just one of the points of a global program to promote the theme of child safety. The project "ABC security" at the thematic Johnson baby site has already launched, it contains useful tips and information for parents on proper care of the kids, safety at home, walking, traveling. The most important plans of Johnson & Johnson connect with 2015, when the project will be presented in the regions. It is planned to organize educational programs and workshops with the participation of leading Russian experts, discuss topics of discussion at the biggest Russian sites, involve a wide range of the public in the project. "

The leading continued: "When we talk about injuries, we realize that a tragic accident can happen with everyone. No one is immune from it. A serious injury that happens to a child - t is a great tragedy for the whole family. The first physician assistants - this is, of course, parents. They need to learn to take their child in the new state and start with the path of struggle. Their correct behavior - the key to success. I want to give the floor to Igor Bodak - father of Nikita Bodak – a ward of the Institute and the Foundation, and a member of the charity event "October - a month of good." Nikita, few years ago, miraculously survived after the accident, when he was hit by a train. The baby has long been in critical condition, three survived clinical death, had two operations on the brain. Thanks to the efforts of expertsof the Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, the parents, and the courage of the boy, it was able to restore his function movement, speech, memory and attention. Much has already been done, but the child needs further rehabilitation. The child's father - Igor Bodak takes an active part in the activities of the Fund. It is the father, who, by personal example, inspired other parents to fight for the health of their children.
Igor Bodak told about his son’s injury, which Nikita received during the crossing railways, about how much it has been done and invested, so ittwo years, the child can live a full life. Until now, the father of Nikita can not remember without crying about it. He appealed to all parents - to be extremely attentive to your children, know where they are, with whom they do, to somehow warn against disaster. "No one is waiting for trouble, but when it comes, everything changes in one second. After injury to a child, we are the other, a world much changed. " He is thankful that Nikita was in due time in the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, where a huge team of specialists worked with a child and applied modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. He said heartfelt gratitude to the Research Institute ofEmergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology’s doctors, who saved his son and put him on the legs.

Only joint efforts can solve the a common problem. Mufti said that the establishment of “the Foundation of children’s Dr. Roshal” - a "godly Initiative", which is supported by various denominations. He stressed that mercy and charity knows no boundaries, that help the needy - is the duty of believers, that helping seriously ill children, the donors can "feel to manifest their faith, to see her beauty." He also said that the Council of Muftis of Russia has become a real friend and partner of the Foundation to help children in distress.
